What to do with all those leaves

With the leaves starting to accumulate, it might be tempting to rake them all up into a pile and then light yourself a nice little bonfire. But that would be a bad idea.
State regulations allow outside burning only between January 15 and May 1 each year, but even then you’re not allowed to burn leaves,

Fire department members commended for storm preparedness work

Last month I told you that Southborough had earned status as a StormReady community, only the ninth in Massachusetts to meet the requirements. A ceremony at Tuesday night’s Board of Selectmen honored the work of Southborough Firefighter/EMT Neal Aspesi and Fire Chief John Mauro Jr. in achieving the certification.

Southborough unemployment rate highest in a long, long time

Southborough’s unemployment rate jumped a full point in September to 7.5%. I found data going back as far as 1990, and that’s the highest rate we’ve seen in all that time.
The Boston Globe reports the Massachusetts unemployment rate for September was the highest since the 1970’s.
Southborough wasn’t the only area town to see an increase.
