Donate used crutches for Haiti – TODAY

by susan on February 11, 2010

If you have a pair of crutches taking up space in your closet, here’s something excellent to do with them.

Southborough resident Dee Cameron has organized a drive to collect crutches for those in Haiti who injured or lost a leg in the earthquake. Cameron has partnered with a prosthetics company in Shrewsbury that will will ship the crutches to Haiti through Physicians for Peace.

To donate, please tie the pair of crutches together and drop them off at the Bargain Box, located in St. Mark’s Church Parish House, 27 Main Street (map) today from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.

Today’s times sure didn’t fit into my schedule, but I am fairly sure I have a few sets of primo crutches in my cellar. Any other collection times? In the meantime, I will dig around.

Dee stopped by on her way to work with a car overflowing with crutches! I added my stuff to the pile and off she went. I think she’s doing a fantastic job, and I even feel better about myself knowing that I helped someone rather than bringing more unwated “junk” to the transfer station.

Are there are other collection dates/times for crutches? (written 13Feb).
