Tonight’s Board of Selectmen meeting canceled

I just got word that tonight’s Board of Selectmen meeting has been canceled due to the weather. Selectmen are scheduled to meet next on Thursday to talk budgets. That meeting starts at 6:00 pm in the Town House Hearing Room (second floor).

A special night of skating under the stars on Saturday

On Saturday night lights will be set up around the outdoor Community Skating Rink in Fayville for a special evening of night skating. The event is being sponsored by Southborough’s public safety agencies – the Fire and Police Departments, Emergency Management Agency and Citizen Emergency Response Team and Medical Reserve Corp (CERT/MRC) – in appreciation for the continuing support of the community.

Increased Algonquin enrollments may mean increased costs for Southborough

When it comes to next year’s fiscal situation, we’ve spent a lot of time on this blog discussing the Southborough school budget. Little attention (so far) has been paid to the regional school budget, but turns out, that one could have just as significant an impact on Southborough taxpayers.

Towns to study regionalizing police and fire dispatch services

Here’s one I’ve been meaning to post for a while now. Earlier this year, Fire Chief John Mauro Jr. and Police Chief Jane Moran went before the Board of Selectmen to float the idea of centralizing police and fire dispatch services with neighbors Ashland and Hopkinton as a way to cut down on costs.
