Breaking news: Rooney wins race for Selectman

The votes are in and John Rooney has won a seat on the Board of Selectman. Rooney received 1,002 votes to incumbent Sal Giorlandino’s 606.

Polls in Southborough opened today at 8:00 am and will stay open until 8:00 pm. With all the interest in the races this year, I’m hoping for a good turnout. Last year the turnout for town elections was a dismal 6%. Surely we can do better this year.

Reverse-911 system mix up on Saturday

Several of you wrote in to say you received one or more reverse-911 calls warning about road closures due to the NECC road race on Saturday morning. Problem was, the calls were received on Saturday evening, long after the race was over. I asked Police Chief Jane Moran what happened.
