The Algonquin boys baseball team is headed to the semifinals after beating Milford yesterday in extra innings by a score of 8 to 5. The Metrowest Daily News has a recap of the game:

The fifth-seeded Tomahawks (14-7), who trailed 4-0 after three innings, took their first lead on junior Kyle McGinnity’s two-run single in the 10th inning.

McGinnity, the leadoff hitter, was 0-for-2 before that at-bat, although he had walked twice and driven in a run with a ground out.

“I needed a hit,” McGinnity said. “I had a lot of at-bats, but I really hadn’t gotten a solid hit. We needed a big hit to come on top. You’ve got to love beating Milford.”

Algonquin will face top-seed St. John’s on Wednesday at 7:00 pm at Tivnan Field in Worcester.
