Southborough Little Leaguers win first game of round-robin play

Southborough is off to a good start in the State Little League championship tournament. In their first game of round-robin play last night in Norwood, the team shut out North Leominster by a score of 3-0.

Nolan Kessinger tossed a two-hit complete-game shutout to get the Southboro Little League team off to an impressive start with a 3-0 victory over North Leominster in the opener of the final round of the state tournament at the Coakley School field in Norwood.

Southborough will face Peabody West — the defending state and New England champions — today at 4:45 pm at the Coakley Field. On Saturday they face Newton West in the final game of round-robin play. The two teams with the best records play a championship game on Sunday.
