Snow blankets Southborough, but no major problems reported

The first big storm of the season — and likely the last of 2010 — brought an estimated 10 inches of snow to Southborough on Sunday night and into Monday. The light, fluffy snow was accompanied by strong winds, with a peak gust of 35 mph recorded just after midnight on Sunday.

The fire and police departments both staffed up in preparation, but Fire Chief John Mauro Jr. said Southborough survived the storm with few problems. The fire department responded to one minor car vs. telephone pole accident on Sunday evening.

The Department of Public Works reported no major issues, and by mid-morning on Monday, most roads were down to bare pavement.
