Southborough Library Genealogy Club welcomes expert on Irish genealogy Thursday

The Southborough Public Library Genealogy Club will host Thomas Toohey, speaking on Irish Genealogy, on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at 7:00 p.m., at the Southborough Public Library, 25 Main Street, Southborough, MA. The Genealogy Club will have a business meeting, starting at 6:30 p.m., before the talk.

Mr. Toohey, vice president of the Irish Ancestral Research Association, TIARA, has published his family stories in a two-volume book entitled Images of Other Lives. Tom has a B.S. from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and a master’s degree in music from the University of Hartford. He was a teacher for forty years.

The Southborough Library Genealogy Club meets at the Southborough Public Library, located at the junction of Routes 85 and 30, at 25 Main Street in Southborough. Meetings are open to the public, for all ages and skill levels. Call the Southborough Public Library at 508.485.5031 to register for the February 17 talk on Irish Genealogy. Wow, what a beautiful landscape! You can understand how it would take a famine to force people to leave such a wonderful place. I am sure it is not as simple as that, but still.
