Save the date: Southborough Community Swap – May 7

If you’re like me, you have some spring cleaning planned for this weekend. While you’re sorting through your closets, garage, and attic, set aside a few items for the first ever Southborough Community Swap to be held on Saturday, May 7.

The swap is being organized by a Southborough Girl Scout as her Silver Award project. Think the Swap Shop, but on a bigger scale. Here are the details.

Southborough Community Swap
Saturday, May 7, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Back of Pilgrim Church

Bring items, in good condition, you don’t need or want and swap them with items other people bring. As many items as you bring is as many as you can take! This swap promotes Going Green in our community by having items people don’t want anymore get reused by someone else, instead of getting thrown out and put into landfills.

Only certain items will be accepted (see below), and all things that are leftover at the end of the swap will be donated to charity.

Items that are accepted (all items must be new or gently used, and clean):

  • New clothes with the tags still on
  • Never worn shoes
  • Toys
  • Books
  • CDs
  • DVDs
  • Games
  • Small electronics
  • Small household appliances (i.e., lamps)
  • Accessories (i.e. necklances, handbags, belts)
  • Small household items
  • Sports equipment

Items that won’t be accepted (plus broken, damaged, dirty, or worn out items):

  • Furniture
  • Earrings
  • Computer monitors
  • TVs
  • Soft items (i.e., pillows, stuffed animals)
  • Large items

They won’t take furniture at the swap, but if you have pieces you no longer need, consider donating them to Marlborough-based Furnishing Options. You can learn more in this post.
