CSX will go before the Board of Selectmen in Westborough tomorrow night to continue a public hearing about their proposed chemical transfer station off Flanders Road just over the Southborough border. The public hearing was convened last month, but was continued to allow Westborough officials more time to weigh in.

At the public hearing last month, Southborough residents expressed concern about traffic and safety at the site. CSX has refused to meet with Southborough officials about the project saying the town has no jurisdiction over it, so the only chance Southborough residents have to hear about the project is at public meetings in Westborough.

The public hearing is set to resume at 6:35 pm on Tuesday in the Selectmen’s Meeting Room in the Westborough Town Hall (34 West Main Street). You can see the full agenda for the meeting here. The meeting is open to the public.

The selectmen aren’t the only ones who will be talking about the CSX project tomorrow night. Westborough’s Conservation Commission is also expected to continue their discussion of the transfer station starting at 7:20 pm in Room 23 of the Forbes Municipal Building (45 West Main Street).

These CSX guys actually had a train de-rail in Westboro just this past Winter.
What if it was carrying hazardous chemicals? How dare they not meet with us? With all the mutual aid we provide to Westboro, why can’t our officials exert some influence?
