Southborough welcomes three new police officers

Staffing changes at the Southborough Police Department continued this month as selectmen approved the hiring of three new police officers to replace three who left earlier this year. The new hires come a few weeks after selectmen made a round of promotions which included creating the department’s first ever lieutenant position.

The Metrowest Daily News quotes Police Chief Jane Moran as saying the full-time hires will help get the department where she wants it to be. “This adds validity and solidness to our team that’s absolutely needed,” Moran said according to the paper.

The new officers – who were unanimously selected by the board from a pool of five finalists – include William Woodford III, a Southborough native and former reserve officer for the department; Aaron Richardson, an officer at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester; and Sherborn reserve officer Thomas Rock.

I am so happy that William “Jake” Woodford has finally realized his dream and was hired. He has worked very hard to get where he is. Kudos to him!
