Website lets you keep tabs on governance committee work

The committee charged with drafting legislation for a new town manager form of government met last night to continue its work. I wasn’t able to go to the meeting, and I suspect most of you weren’t there either. But fortunately, those of us who want to keep tabs on the committee’s progress have another way to do so thanks to a website they set up earlier this summer.

On the website you’ll find agendas and minutes, research documents, and other background materials. Check it all out here: southboroughdctml.weebly.com.

Voters at Town Meeting last April approved the creation of the committee, officially called the Drafting Committee for Town Manager Legislation. Their charter is to craft language for moving to a new town manager form of government. If voters at Town Meeting next April approve the legislation, it could mean major changes to the structure of our government, including creating the position of Town Manager and possibly increasing the size of the Board of Selectmen from three to five.

Committee members include Janet Maney, Janice Conlin, Joseph Laning, Lee Bartolini, and Marnie Hoolahan.
