Framingham State geography workshop targets teachers (Metrowest Daily News)
For the past two decades, American students could find Iraq on the front pages of newspapers, leading TV news broadcasts, and discussed on radio programs. Yet many of them still can’t find the country on a map, said Framingham State University professor Susan Dargan. (read more)

Locals compete at Westborough Sprint Triathlon (Community Advocate)

Pitching rotation drives Blue Sox (boston.com)
From top to bottom, Lexington Blue Sox manager Rick DeAngelis said, he has never had a more talented starting pitching corps since he founded the team 17 years ago. His five-man rotation accounted for 22 of the team’s first 25 victories: Southborough’s Matt Karis (5-1), the Concord duo of Drew Brzozowski (5-0) and Steve Bodnar (3-1), and Sudbury tandem of Sam Finn (5-0) and Kevin Scanlan (4-1). Sports training facility to open in Ashland (Metrowest Daily News)
While the Ashland facility, scheduled to open Sept. 18, specializes in baseball training, it also offers competitive and recreational training in a variety of sports thanks to its basketball court and 5,000-square-foot turf field. The sportscenter is the brainchild of Joey Magnani, Chris Billings, both of Ashland, and Mike Croatti of Southborough. (read more)
