A couple of you asked about the construction activity over the past few months at the intersection of Route 85 and Common Street across from St. Mark’s School. The work was all to install a new artificial field, a field St. Mark’s unveiled at a recent field hockey game.

From the St. Mark’s website:

Head of School John C. Warren ’74 kicked off the inaugural games on the new field by saying,”This is a great day for St. Mark’s because we now have a field that allows our athletes, more than ever before, to do and be their best. They will be able to play and practice when wet conditions would previously have made it impossible. And field hockey players will be able to hone their skills on the surface that is becoming more and more common for that sport.”

St. Mark’s said the field was made possible through the contributions of an anonymous donor along with gifts from the St. Mark’s Class of 1959 in honor of their 50th reunion.
