The New England Center for Children will hold its 6th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Autism on Saturday, May 12 at Neary School. The race follows Clifford and Deerfoot Roads and returns down Parkerville Road.

Proceeds from the event benefit NECC’s Annual Fund which helps cover the cost of specially adapted computers and equipment, along with pool supplies and recreational equipment. The fund will also help pay for renovations to the school’s residential facilities which house over 120 students.

Registration is $25 until May 10, and $30 the day of the race. The first 600 registered runners and walkers will receive a race T-shirt. Day-of registration begins at 8:30 am, with the race starting at 10:00 am. An awards ceremony and cookout follow the race.

You can find more information and register for the race at necc.kintera.org/5K.

The last I heard is that there were over 1000 people registered for Saturday. Last year the atmosphere was ‘electric’, the energy of the crowd was amazing! It was such a great boost to see so much support not only for The New England Center but for the students and their families. NECC is a great school for kids and young adults with Autism – what they have done for my son is down right incredible! Come and join us, you won’t be sorry you did!
