The fall sports postseason has begun for Algonquin. After byes in their respective first rounds, both the Algonquin girls and boys soccer teams won their district quarterfinal matches yesterday to make it to the semifinals later this week.

MWDN: Police chief and Southborough can’t agree on three-year deal

For the past several months, the Board of Selectmen and Police Chief Jane Moran have been negotiating in executive session on a new contract for the chief. The Metrowest Daily News reported this weekend, they were unable to reach agreement on a 3-year contract – the norm for most town department heads – and instead laid out a 1-year deal.

Reminder: Donations for hurricane victims accepted until Tuesday at noon (UPDATED)

Here’s the latest update from the group of Southborough moms who are collecting items to send to the community of Toms River, New Jersey, which was devastated by Hurricane Sandy one week ago today. Donations need to be in by tomorrow at noon.
