Algonquin’s school colors are maroon and gold, but this weekend they sprinkled in some green. The Algonquin boys basketball team paid homage to Eric Green at their game this weekend by donning green shoelaces, marking the one-year anniversary the Trottier 7th-grader’s sudden passing. The hoops team took out undefeated Fitchburg in the Friday night game by a score of 82-63 to themselves remain unbeaten.

In other weekend sports news, the undefeated Algonquin co-ed swim team squeaked by also undefeated Westborough in the final relay of the meet to come out on top 86-84. The undefeated run for the Algonquin gymnastics team came to an end on Monday after a surprise upset by Westborough. It was the first time Algonquin had lost a regular-season meet in four years.
