Time for another open thread. For those of you new to the blog, the open discussion thread is your place to ask questions, sound off on town issues, or share information with other readers. Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  • Ask questions about programs in town or the town itself
  • Post a note about things that you’re selling or giving away, or things that you want
  • Share notices about upcoming events (Southborough or otherwise)
  • Register your thoughts on town issues or news stories
  • Point out interesting or helpful resources

You can add comments to the thread throughout the week. Check back often to see new comments. (If you read the blog via email or RSS, you might want to check the site from time to time for new comments.)

I’m wondering if there has ever been any discussion of making Willow Street (the small street next to NECC ) one way? Many cars use it as a cut through from Rte 30 to Rte 9. When the NECC vans line up there twice a day there is only room for one car at a time to go around them. Cars coming off Rte 9 frequently take the hairpin onto Willow street quite fast only to find themselves blocking the one lane of traffic trying to get onto Rte 9. Does anyone know if this issue has ever been looked at?

It’s been reported in the news that many towns are working on marijuana dispensary legislation, is Southborough doing anything?

Does anyone have any up to date information regarding the restoration/renovation of the Garfield House on Main Street? My memory is fuzzy, but I seem to remember someone purchased the property and house several years ago with restoration/renovation in mind. The lawn gets mowed and the driveway plowed, but not much else seems to be going on. Probably the economy has slowed this project also. Any information? Thanks.

Couldn’t open the metrowest link, but I bet they’re waiting to see if the new zoning bylaw goes through and they can turn the main house into condos and add other buildings on the property as town houses – creating a whole complex there.

Does the Southborough Fire Department ever offer CPR training? Maybe if there is enough interest?
