Obituary: Evelyn Johnson McKie, 90

Evelyn Johnson McKie, 90, of Natick and Leesburg, FL, formerly of Southborough died at her home on May 29, 2013 after an illness.

She was the devoted wife of William E. McKie, for the past 69 years. He passed away in February of 2013.

Born in Southborough, she was the daughter of the late James B. and Lexie (Campbell) Johnson and was the last of her generation.

Mrs. McKie was a 1940 graduate of the former Peter’s High School in Southborough. Following graduation she worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in New York City, but came home when the war broke out to help run the family dairy farm. After the war Evelyn and her husband Bill moved to Natick where they raised their family. Once the children were grown she went to worked for Cramer Electric of Newton in the treasury department until she retired.

Evenly enjoyed needle work, reading, traveling with her family, and winters in Florida. She was a clever seamstress, making many of her children’s clothes and reupholstering their furniture. Evelyn will be remembered as always being a lady with proper manners, a smile on her face and a kind word about everything.

She is survived by her children, Barbara M. Luther and her husband Wilson of Upton; Donald W. McKie and his wife Elaine of Franklin; Susan E. Nash and her husband Peter of Blackstone; Linda M. Russo and her husband Peter of Ashland; 8 grand-children, Christine B. Abbruzzese and her husband Tom of Mendon; Buddy Prince and his wife Sheri of NC; Amanda Snedegar and her husband Terry of Northbridge; Pamela Fula and her husband Marc of Attleboro; Spec. Andrew McKie, US Army and his wife Jackie of OK; Adam Nash and his wife Michele of RI; Jessica St Laurent and her husband Adam of Wrentham; James Russo of Ashland; a step grandson, John Russo of Shrewsbury; 10 Great-grandchildren, Megan, Sarah and Zack Kelly; Emilee, and Alex Snedega; Ciana Fula; Kevin Nash; Maddy and Cameron St Laurent: She was pre-deceased by a step granddaughter, Kim Russo.

There will be a visiting hour from 11 AM to noon on Monday, June 3, followed by a funeral home service, at 12, noon at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main Street, Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
