If you enjoy bluegrass, you’ll want to buy tickets for the Steeple Coffeehouse this weekend.  A past favorite and a new band comprised of musical veterans will perfom in a  double-header on Saturday night. Here are the notes about the show:

Some bands are fun to hear and watch. Some bands are made up of great players.Blackstone Valley Bluegrass is both.

Together almost 10 years, Blackstone Valley Bluegrass features renown banjo picker Dave Dick, his brother Bob Dick on guitar, Dan Nowlan on mandolin and Ken Taylor on upright bass. Blackstone Valley plays great bluegrass music; the fast ones fast – and the slow ones – with lots of feeling.

Walter Crockett and the Wannabee Wabbits consist of two stalwarts from the Oxymorons: Bob Dick on bass, and “The Immortal” Francis X. McConville on mandolin, plus noted Oxylesson Dave Dick on banjo and electric guitar.

Walter Crockett’s website explains that he is formerly of Valerie & Walter Crockett and the Oxymorons.  After his wife Valerie passed away, he spent time playing in other bands.  Now he’s back doing his own thing with the help of a great band.

Tomasso Trattoria will offer a discounted dinner to those going to the show. You can get details and see the menu here. Doors open at 7:00 pm and the music starts at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $15 in advance ($12 for students/seniors) or $18 at the door ($15 for students/seniors). For more information, visit the Steeple Coffeehouse website (steeplecoffeehouse.org).
