MWDN: One dead in Southborough crash (UPDATED)

A bad accident on Northboro Road last night has apparently claimed the life of one person and injured another. No names or ages have been released, but the Metrowest Daily News has some details:

Two people were trapped in the crushed Honda sedan which struck a cluster of trees around 8:40 p.m.

State officials were seen loading what appeared to be a body covered in a black sheet into an SUV marked as belonging to the Office of The State Medical Examiner at just before 11 p.m.

Southborough Fire Lt. Jim Peltier confirmed only one of the two people in the car was taken to the hospital. He said he did not have ages or any other information about the occupants but believed both were male. Both needed to be freed from the wreckage with the Jaws of Life, he said.

The accident took place on a straight stretch of Northboro Road west of the Route 495 overpass near Stonegate Apartments. Those of you who have lived in town a while will remember that is not far from the spot where Southborough teens Shauna and Meghan Murphy lost their lives in a 2005 crash.
