4th of July in Southborough: What is there to do?

Traditionally, my family has been out of town for the 4th of July. From what I’ve heard, it’s pretty quiet in Southborough that week.

This year, I was looking in what there is to do in and around Southborough to celebrate. The pickings seem rather slim:

  • Hudson offers a carnival July 3rd – 7th, complete with rides and petting zoo. But their fireworks aren’t scheduled until Friday, July 5th.
  • Shrewsbury also offers a 4th of July carnival, but without fireworks. They will have a decorated bike and carraige parade, face painting, inflatables, games, and more.

I couldn’t find any neighboring towns that offer fireworks on the 4th. Of course there are some options a bit further afield. The most famous – the Boston Esplanade at 10:00 pm. The Metrowest Daily News has the full roster for the area.

Of course, our town’s big summer celebration is Southborough Summer Nights. The scheduling (first late June, now for past few years late August) reflects the fact that so many families aren’t around mid-summer. (This year it is scheduled for August 24th – mark that down!)

But for those residents who are here this week . . .
