Construction and detours will effect Rte 85 and vicinity on Southside this weekend

If you will be travelling in the vicinity of Route 85 near the MBTA this weekend, adjust your schedule for construction and detours.

Construction is planned for Friday night through early Monday morning. So this hopefully won’t effect regular commuters.

The Southborough Police Department issued the following statement:

Rt 85 in the vicinity of the MBTA station will be closed to all traffic from 9:00 PM, Friday 12 July to 5:00 AM, Monday 15 July, 2013. During this weekend heavy construction vehicles will be in continuous operation.

There will be VHS boards warning motorists in advance as well as detour signs, which will direct all traffic to travel Southville Rd, into Cordaville Rd in Ashland where they will then be directed to follow Rt 135 west toward Hopkinton.

The T Station and McCarthy Pools will still be accessible.

Sure to be a mess…last Thursday my daughter was trying to get to the 8:35am train and 85S was backed up to ‘Town Center’…she missed the train, not sure what was going on that day since I’m sure the contractors weren’t working on the holiday.

It was the 4th of July. People were going to Hopkinton State Park.
