Favorite Places: Where do you cool off indoors?

Last Month, I ran a post on where to cool off in the hot weather. At that time, my focus was outdoors.

With the heat index warnings off the charts today, I wanted to remind people of some of the indoor places I mentioned. (Especially if you don’t have air conditioning at home.)

I’d also love readers to share their tips.

For Seniors, the Southborough Senior Center shared in its summer newsletter:

If we do have severe hot weather please feel free to come to the Senior Center with your friends to keep cool, play cards, meet for lunch, or watch TV. If heat waves do occur please call us or the fire station for extended cooling center hours.

For adults and teens:

The Southborough Public Library is open today. I’m guessing in this weather it will be a little warmer than usual – but certainly better than outdoors. Find a comfy chair and a good book to curl up with. Hours are 10:00 am – 5:00 pm. The new “Teen Space” is a good area for young adults to hang out, they even have ipads to share.

For families with young children:

  • Children’s Room at the library: there are lots of Summer Reading activities, plus an Olivia Story Time at 10:30 am today
  • Free playspaces: the Natick Mall, the Solomon Pond Mall, and McDonalds (Rte 9 Westborough and Rte 20 Marlborough)

If you are looking for something a little out of your ordinary routine, there are also area museums.
