Events this week (10/28/13-11/2/13): Parades and celebrations, plus lots to do at the library

Wednesday, October 30, 2013:

  • Halloween Luncheon (12:00 – 1:00 pm) @ Senior Center: Come join us for a Halloween celebration. There will be fun Halloween music and a light lunch to enjoy. Wear your Halloween costume for some fun prizes. Suggested donation $6 per Friends of COA member, $10 per non-member
  • How to Get Published (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Panel featuring Hopkinton self-published author Bruce Spitzer and Boston literary agent, Katherine Flynn. Bring your questions. The event is free and open to the public. No registration required.

Thursday, October 31, 2013 –  Halloween:

  • Orange & Black or PJ Day @ Woodward School: In celebration of Halloween, students are encouraged to wear Orange and Black or  come in pajamas
  • Trick or Treat at the Library (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library: Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat at the library anytime during the day. Halloween themed crafts and games will be available as well. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
  • Finn School’s Halloween Parade (10:30 am) @ Mary Finn School: Pre-K to 1st graders will march out the school entrance and back in through the gym door. Families and friends can stand outside and wave on the kids as they pass by.
  • Finn and Woodward Schools early dismissal (12:00 pm) For parent-teacher conferences
  • Trick or Treat: Southborough will celebrate the holiday. (No matter what is happening with the World Series.) Don’t forget to stock up on candy. Of course some neighborhoods are overrun by kiddies. And other houses barely get a ring on the doorbell. If you are new to your neighborhood, be sure to ask your neighbors what to expect!

Friday, November 1, 2013:

  • Vocabulary Hat Parade @ Neary School: Students show off their creations – clever hats that express vocabulary words. (Click here to see the slideshow from 2012).
  • Fall Fest (7:00 – 9:00 pm) @ Trottier Middle School: Southborough Youth & Family Services’ festival for 6th-8th graders. Entertainment and activities include a DJ, sports, contests, and concessions. Students can win prizes, hang out with their friends and dance. Adult and high school students willing to volunteer, please email scassell@southboroughma.com.

Saturday, November 2, 2013:

  • Scouting for Food (9:00 am) @ your mailbox! Place your bagged (or boxed) donations by your mailbox in the morning. Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts will be making the rounds to collect for the Southborough Food Pantry.
  • Birds of Prey (2:30 – 3:30 pm) @ Southborough Library: New England Reptile and Raptor will be visiting the library with Birds of Prey. Children are invited to learn about these birds, as well as see some in person. No registration necessary. Sponsored by Fay School.
