Obituary: John C. Budz, Ph.D., 70

John C. Budz, Ph.D., of Southborough, age 70, died Mon., Dec. 30, after a brief illness.

Born in Chicago, he was the son of the late John J. and Anna Budz. He was the beloved husband of Judith Budz, Ph.D. and the loving father of Joanna Budz, Esq., M.A. of Brighton.

John received his B.S. degree from Loyola University, his M.A. in psychology from DePaul University, both in Chicago, and his Ph.D. in psychology from Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.

He was a professor of psychology at Framingham State University for 35 years, a clinical psychologist, and an organizational consultant.

An accomplished photographer, John’s portraits of faculty, students, and administrators have been exhibited in many Framingham State University buildings.

In addition to his wife and daughter, John is survived by his brothers in-law, and their families: Robert Kaufman and his wife Laura Schoen of NYC, and their children, Lissa and Matthew; and James Kaufman and his wife, Anna Swan of Cambridge, and their children, Klara and Sofia; his niece, Karen Alberti, of Framingham; and his nephew, James Tvarian, of CA.

John’s family thanks Daniel Remillard, Christopher O’Flinn, Dr. Ralph Sherman, Elliot Levine, and Michael Markert for their extraordinary support during John’s last days, and greatly appreciates the concern expressed by so many others during this period.

A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of the Framingham Union Hospital ICU.

A memorial service will be held at Framingham State University in the McCarthy Center Forum, 100 State Street, Framingham, MA, on Saturday, January 25, at 2:00 p.m.; relatives and friends are kindly invited.
