Obituary: Margaret A. (Flynn) Benson, 92

Margaret A. (Flynn) Benson, 92, of Southborough died on Monday, July 14, 2014 at Shrewsbury Nursing Home after a period of declining health.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Benson who died in 2009.

Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Catherine (Lennon) Flynn.

Mrs. Benson was raised in Dorchester and when she married Bob, she moved to Southborough and worked for many years as a banquet manager at the former Framingham Motor Inn. Margaret was devoted to her family and enjoyed caring for her husband, children, grandchildren, and the many other family members that needed her care. She was a long time member of the Southborough Catholic Women’s Club and St. Matthew Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Maureen Ames and Marc King of WA; Kathleen Lane and her husband Jim of Southborough; 6 grandchildren, Julie Rice and her husband Steve; Terri Reilly and her husband Vin; Laura Strickland and her husband Chris; Christine Rice and her husband Craig; Tricia Lane; Robert Lane and his wife Caroline ; 12 great grandchildren, Matthew, Jack and Nicolas Strickland; Allison, Jonathan and Megan Rice; Katelyn, Dylan and Meg Reilly; Troy Johnson and Kyle Rice, and Fiona Lane and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 17, from 4 to 7 PM at Morris Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Southborough.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, July 18, at 10 AM at St. Matthew Church, 26 Highland St., Southborough. Burial will follow in the Southborough Rural Cemetery.
