Summer Concert Series: Bluegrass to blues to country to rock – Thursday, July 24

Above: For some, the series is about free “front row” seats to a great band (like Soul Custody). For others, it’s about running free at a community picnic on a summer night. (photos by Beth Melo)

The Summer Concert series is offering up another fun night of free family friendly entertainment. This coming Thursday, Paul Della Valle and The Steps will entertain the crowd for free.

The band plays everything from “bluegrass to blues to country to rock”. Their facebook page promises “We play music that will lift your spirit and get your bum a shaking.”

I really enjoyed the first concert this year with family and friends, so hope I can make this third one.

As you hopefully know by now, this series is more than just a community event.  The concession sales raise funds for Send a Kid to Camp. They will be selling dinner food, drinks, desserts and snacks. So it’s a good excuse not to cook dinner on a summer night.

The concert takes place July 24th, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Neary Field.  Remember to bring your picnic blankets and lawn chairs.

There is no rain date for this band, so keep your fingers crossed for good weather. (For cancellation information, call 508-485-0710 and press 8.)

If you’d like to directly help Send a Kid to Camp, you can make a tax-deductable donation to the Friends of the Southborough Youth Commission online. Mailed-in checks are also gladly accepted.

Or you can support them by buying refreshments to enjoy while listening to great music.
