In last week’s post on Southborough Summer Nights, I listed Algonquin’s FIRST® Robotics Team 1100 as having a booth. It turns out, there presence will be more entertaining than just that.

At the Neary School Tennis Courts, kids will have a chance to test drive a robot. And parents can learn more about this year’s youth robotics league at the event and at an upcoming info night.

The group will hold an informational meeting on Tuesday August 26. There, parents can find out more about FIRST® LEGO® League for ages 9-14.

The meeting will take place at the Southborough Library in the downstairs Eaton Meeting Room.

The award winning Algonquin T-Hawks Robotics team shared:

FIRST® Robotics was founded over 25 years ago by internationally-renowned inventor and entrepreneur Dean Kamen “to transform our culture by creating a world where science and technology are celebrated and where young people dream of becoming science and technology leaders.” FIRST® makes this happen by engaging young people in exciting mentor-based programs “that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”

Algonquin’s T-Hawks Robotics Team (FIRST® Team 1100), is now in its 13th season of transforming the lives of students at Algonquin and beyond. We couldn’t do it without our faculty advisor, dedicated parent mentors, parent volunteers and our sponsors. Current principal sponsors are DOW Chemical Company and Boston Scientific Corporation.
