Events this week (10/14-10/19/14): Meet John Adams, limited rebroadcast of Wi-Fi in the schools, and hazardous waste & electronics/bike collections

Wednesday, October 15, 2014:

  • Osteoporosis Screening for seniors (10:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Senior Center: Screenings in the Nurses Office. No appointment is needed.
  • Tour of Christopher Heights (12:00 – 5:00 pm) @ Pickup and drop off at Southborough Senior Center: Learn about living options and specifics of the Marlborough located retirement community. Pickup by van at noon; lunch; tour; return before 5:00 pm. Space is limited, so pre-register by calling 508-229-4453.
  • The Friends of the Southborough Library (7:30 – 8:30 pm) @ Southborough Public Library: Anyone who wishes to help support the library is welcome to join the monthly meeting

Saturday, October 18, 2014:

  • Southborough Hazardous Waste Collection Day (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Transfer Station. See the town’s flyer for details.
  • Electronic, Appliance, and Bicycle Recycle Day (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ Saint Anne’s Church parking lot, 20 Boston Road: Electronic and Appliance Recycling for small fees. Bicycles dropped off to be re-used, or call to have collected. Questions can be directed to Dennis Wood at 508-277-7513 or denwaynewood@yahoo.com. (For details, see the post for similar event in May. The date is different but items and fees are the same.) 
  • Meet John Adams (6:00 pm) @ South Union Building, 21 Highland Street: The Southborough Historical Society is hosting a lively and revolutionary conversation with America’s second president featuring George Baker as John Adams. Admission is $25 pp with all proceeds benefiting the Historical Society and the Museum. Tickets are limited and can be purchased online. See dedicated post for details.
  • Wi-Fi in Schools broadcast (9:00 pm) @ public access channel: A limited broadcast of the presentation made at the Southborough Library on September 25th: A discussion of health risks & solutions for the safer use of technology in the schools. Southborough Access Media has been given the rights to broadcast this two times on Verizon-38 and Charter-191. (It will not be available online.)

Sunday, October 19, 2014:

  • Wi-Fi in Schools broadcast (3:00 pm) @ public access channel: A limited broadcast of the presentation made at the Southborough Library on September 25th: A discussion of health risks & solutions for the safer use of technology in the schools. Southborough Access Media has been given the rights to broadcast this two times on Verizon-38 and Charter-191. (It will not be available online.)
