The Marlborough residents are accused of stealing credit cards from area offices, including one in Southborough. SPD Detective Sean McCarthy tracked down surveillance footage from locations where the card was used and shared photos with area police.

Southborough police were among those to question the owner of a truck involved and search the suspects’ residence. One of the suspects turned herself into the SPD during the search and admitted to involvement in the crimes.

Here are some highlights from the story:

Police tracked down a Marlborough couple whom they say is responsible for stealing credit cards in several cities and towns, using them to buy thousands of dollars’ worth of gift cards and then selling those to pawn shops for cash. . .

The theft is linked to similar cases in Hopkinton, Boxborough, Worcester and UMass medical complex, [Lt. Sean] James said.

A police report documented the female suspect’s admission:

“[her boyfriend] would go into an office and grab a purse or wallet and hide it in his pants and leave the building,”  [Hopkinton Detective Gregg] DeBoer wrote.
