Algonquin Girls Soccer made it to the state championships this past weekend. But they didn’t snag the title. That honor went to Needham, with a 3-1 win.

The Community Advocate wrote:

Needham struck first with a goal by Rachel Kingston 15 minutes into the first half, although Algonquin continued to play tough and went into halftime trailing by a score of 1-0. However, Needham scored two additional goals in the initial eight minutes of the second half, the first by Kathleen Rizzo and the second by Kingston. A goal by Algonquin’s Caroline Leonard with 14:36 remaining in the game provided some inspiration for the Tomahawks, but the deficit was too much for them to overcome in the remaining time.

The following day, Algonquin hosted the state cheerleading competition.  T-Hawks cheerleaders ranked 8th out of 14 for their Division.

For Cross Country’s state tournament, the teams apparently didn’t qualify to compete, but three of their runners made the grade. Noah Brazer came in 114 in the Boys run. For the Girls, Madison Scott ranked 114 and Jennifer fox came in at 154.
