Obituary: Marilyn Catherine Murphy (Volk), 75

Marilyn Catherine Murphy (Volk), 75, of North Falmouth and Naples FL, and formerly of Southborough, died unexpectedly on December 9, 2015 at the Cape Cod Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas F. Murphy, Jr. for 50 years. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late Walter L. and Anne (Bingham) Volk.

Marilyn was a graduate of Framingham State University. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Norwood, Southborough, and Goleta, California. She was a member at the Pocasset Golf Club, Cedar Hammock Golf Club in Naples, Florida, the Falmouth Garden Club, and she was the former president of the Southborough Garden Club. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society in North Falmouth. She also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in Florida. 

In addition to her husband, Marilyn is survived by her children: Thomas F. Murphy III and his wife Rachael of Milford, Stephen W. Murphy and his wife Teresa of Northborough, and Elizabeth M. Richter and her husband Mario of Milton. She was the doting grandmother of Patrick and Catherine Murphy, Jack and Ryan Murphy, and Quinn and Benjamin Richter. She was the sister of Anne E. Walley of Dedham. She also leaves her nieces and nephew, Francis Walley III of W. Roxbury, Marcia Blenko of Wellesley, and Susan DeNatale of Wellesley and 6 great nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours [were] held from 2-5 PM on Sunday Dec 13th at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 Route 28A (West Falmouth Hwy), WEST FALMOUTH. A funeral Mass [was] held at 10 AM on Monday, Dec. 14th at St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 481 Quaker Rd, North Falmouth; followed by burial in the North Falmouth Cemetery.
