Weekend at a glance: foam recycling, Jazz festival, American Finn-Ja Warrior and more

It’s another surprisingly busy weekend in Southborough. Here’s a reminder of what’s happening around town:

foam recycling eventFoam Recycling (9:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ Woodward School: Woodward’s Green Team will be collecting clean Polystyrene and Styrofoam for recycling.(Please remove all labels and tape.) For the list of accepted and not-accepted items, click here.  The group will also be recycling button cell batteries and empty medications. For details, see dedicated post.

American Finn-Ja WarriorAmerican Finn-Ja Warrior (9:00 am – 1:00 pm – with on the hour time slots) @ Mary Finn School, 60 Richards Road: A fundraiser to benefit a new playground at Finn School. The Finn Gym will be transformed into a fun obstacle course. Friday is the last day to register, but they are accepting signups at the door. For details, see dedicated post.

art in bloomArt in Bloom Exhibit (10:00 am – 5:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Main Floor: The last day to view the exhibit. Members of Southborough Gardeners created floral interpretations of over 30 pieces of Algonquin student’s artwork. (Check out pairings from the 2014 exhibit here.)

FaySummer Logo Fay Summer Camp Open House (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) @ Fay’s Primary School, 25 Middle Road: Learn about Fay’s summer programs for children ages 3-15. Meet the camp director and tour the campus to see where camp takes place. Tours will run from 10:30-11:00 a.m. and an info session and Q&A will follow. Visit www.faysummer.org to learn more.

Hop into Savings entertainer Clowning with Lee LeeHop into Spring Savings (1:00 – 3:00 pm) @ Southborough Recreation Department, 21 Highland Street: Clowning, balloon twisting, face painting, and complimentary refreshments. Book signing and sales by Ray LaChance (our local “Beasties” artist) Limited number of reduced rate vouchers will be for sale to be used towards any town recreation programs. For details, see dedicated post.

Yaure MunizCutler Jazz Festival (6:30 pm) @ St. Mark’s School, Putnum Family Arts Center, the Class of ’45 Hall: St. Mark’s School invites Southborough residents to attend their annual jazz festival. This year, it features St. Mark’s Jazz Ensemble and guest artists three-time Grammy award winning Yaure Muniz Group. For details, see dedicated post.
