Seniors are getting their Transfer Station tickets with ease

This year, the Town made getting Transfer Station stickers easier than ever for Southborough seniors. And now the hours are even better.

As in years past, any Southborough resident over the age of 65 can receive up to two free transfer station stickers. But this year, the Town Clerk’s office took over issuing the permits.

They announced that the office was setting up temporary shop in the Senior Center parking lot this month. All senior residents have to do is drive up, give their names, and get their stickers applied. (As long as they are on the Town census.)

The new process began on Tuesday and by the next afternoon, 120 seniors already took advantage of the option.

The only glitch is that a typo in the printed announcement being mailed today offers longer hours than originally planned. Town Clerk Jim Hegarty said they are going to honor those hours, so I’m updating the announcement I previously posted

What: Senior citizen transfer station sticker registration

When: Monday-Friday, 8AM – Noon, now through July 29th*

Where: Southborough Senior Center rear parking lot (9 Cordaville Road)

No paperwork or registration is required; simply drive your car to the rear parking lot and we will put the sticker on the car for you.

If you are over 65 and listed on the Town Census than you can receive up to two free transfer station stickers that are strictly for your household’s personal use.

The Clerk’s office has hired temporary staff to oversee the project this summer. It’s probably worth noting that this program is run by the Town Clerk’s office. So, be sure to direct any questions to Town Hall – not the Senior Center staff!

*It was 9am-noon this week. But by the time you read this, that’s a moot point!

We received the mailer (for non-seniors) to obtain Tansfer Station Stickers online via a new site http://www.01772clerk.com. The site does not display any Transfer Station info and is a GoDaddy “Parked Site” notification.

Beth – is the new site (no fee to use your credit card!) not yet live for production use?

Bruce,

The payment site is not ready but we expect the vendor to have it up by the end of the week, or sooner. I will confirm it is up and post that update here.

I’m sorry for the delay and inconvenience.

I’m not a senior (yet!) but really appreciate that the town has made this process so much simpler and more convenient this year, in general. Thanks to all involved!

This is one of several things our new Town Clerk Jim Hegarty have initiated. Most are to make it easier and/or more convenient for many of us. Good job!
