Are your kids still amped up over the Patriots stunning comeback on Sunday? If they rediscovered the joy of playing football, they don’t have to wait for summer to hit the fields.

Southborough Recreation is offering a new co-ed Flag Football league this spring. The league will run May through June (ending before the start of summer break).

The best news for parents is it’s only a once-per-week commitment. Combined practice and play takes place on Sunday afternoons.

The 2nd – 7th grade league is in partnership with Northborough and Westborough:

This program is the perfect opportunity for a child to learn, or enhance the fundamental skills of football in a safe and fun environment with an emphasis on participation teamwork and good sportsmanship.

Each team will have a 90 minute combined practice and game each week. The first 30 minutes will be dedicated to practice, where players will be taught the fundamentals of positions and skills that will be able to be executed in the game immediately following practice.

The goal of practices and games are to ensure that all players receive thorough instruction and gain a comprehensive understanding of the sport, and develop the skills and techniques necessary to succeed. All games will be played in Northborough or Westborough.

Teams will be split by age groups for grades 2/3, 4/5, and 6/7. The schedule has a window from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Sundays May 7th – June 18th. Actual times will be determined after teams are formed.

Enrollment is open through April 24th. Click here to sign up.

The league is also seeking volunteer coaches for each team. If you are interested in helping, please contact Southborough Rec at 508-229-4452 or jhom@southboroughma.com.
