Last week, I shared news from Northboro-Southboro Football & Cheer Association. With too much to cram into one post, I focused on Cheer. Now it’s time to spotlight Jr. T-Hawks football.

The youth football league is shaking up the way divisions are aligned this year.

NSYFCA ‘s announcement promises more evenly matched games:

Northboro-Southboro Youth Football & Cheer Association (NSYFCA) recently announced that they will roll out a new tiered, team-based, divisional alignment in coordination with 30 other member associations of Central Mass American Youth Football & Cheer.

This new alignment, in effect for all players who register for the 2017 season, will create divisions, at each grade level, based upon a team previous year’s record, strength of schedule, and team talent & skill.

“Over the past few years, there have been an increasing number of lopsided games and scores,” said Gary Maggiolino, President of NSYFCA. “Across Central Mass, one out of every 5 games was won by invoking the mercy rule. This new alignment provides greater parity, fairness, and competitiveness in game scheduling which will result in better quality games on a week by week basis.”

Maggiolino stated, “As a parent and coach, I look forward to evenly-matched and competitive games and this alignment will provide just that – balance. Also, each grade division will feature a Super Bowl playoff, which means more teams will have the ability to participate in the post-season.”

If you have questions about the new format, mark May 2nd on your calendar:

NSYFCA will be holding a Football and Cheer information night on Tuesday, May 2nd from 7:00pm – 8:00pm at the Algonquin Regional High School auditorium for parents or guardians who have questions about the new divisional alignment, registration or would like general information about football or cheer.
