The next concert in the Southborough Summer Concert Series features Soul, R&B and Rock. It’s the third of five free outdoor concerts taking place this summer. (For the series schedule, click here.)

Next Thursday’s headliners The Regulators describe themselves as:

covering the classics of Soul, R&B and Rock including Marvin Gaye, Otis, Redding, Stevie Wonder, the Doobie Brothers, The O’Jays, Al Green and others. We bring an engaging, energetic and appealing blend of music featuring the dynamic and soulful voice of lead singer Darryl Butler.

(Of course, I always believe that listening to a band is better than reading about it. For a sample of their style, scroll down to the sampler at the bottom of the post.)

The concert takes place July 13th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Neary School (53 Parkerville Road).

As always, the concert is on the lawn. So, bring blankets, chairs (and bug spray).

Captain Marden's SeafoodAs I’ve previously posted, this year, dinner will be sold via a specialized food truck (next week is Captain Marden’s Seafood) and a dessert stand (Yummy Mummy). Or bring your own picnic to the concert.

The music series is again run by Southborough Youth & Family Services and the Recreation Department. It is also co-sponsored by: Friends of Southborough Youth Commission, Southborough Cultural Arts Commission, and Friends of Southborough Recreation, and Mercedes Benz of Shrewsbury.

Now here’s the sampler I promised. (If you’re reading this post as an email subscriber, you may need to click here to open it):

Updated (7/9/17 10:08 am): I had accidentally included a note (from my post on the last concert) saying there is no rain date. There actually is a back up date of July 20th. For Rain Date information, call 508-485-0710 and press 8.
