This week in sports: Field Hockey heads straight to Quarter Finals

We are getting into tournament season for fall sports. Algonquin Boys Varsity Golf was slated to play in their State Championship this morning. The rain pushed that off to next Monday at the Haverhill Country Club, with an 11:00 am shotgun start.

No surprise, ARHS Football won’t make the playoffs this year. This week, the team will host Tantasqua, another non-playoff team.

Field hockey won two more games last week, ending their regular season as league champs. They ranked second seed in the Division 1 sectional tournament.

The Girls earned a Bye on the first round. They’ll host the Quarter Finals on Friday afternoon against either 7th seed St. Peter-Marian or 10th seed Auburn.

Remaining Gonk varsity teams are still waiting for news on tournament seeding. If any more playoffs popup later this week, I’ll keep you posted.

Until then, here are the ARHS varsity games on tap for the week.
