Reminder: Tonight is Special Election Candidates Night (Vote on Tuesday)

Reminder – Tonight is “Autumn Candidates’ Night” for the Special Election next Tuesday, November 7th.

The traditional pre-election event is a way for the public to learn more about the people running for contested Town seats. This time around, we’ll be hearing only from the four candidates running for the vacant one on the Board of Selectmen:

William J. Boland
35 East Main Street

Doriann M. Jasinski
33 Presidential Drive

Brian G. Shifrin
79 Oak Hill Road

Sam R. Stivers
7 Presidential Drive

Each of the candidates has accepted the Library Trustee’s invitation to participate. The event will take place tonight (Wednesday, November 1st) on the main floor of the Southborough Library.

The evening will begin at 6:30 pm with a “Meet & Greet” session and refreshments. The formal program will begin at 7:00 pm, with former Town Moderator John Wilson again serving as emcee for the evening. Each candidate will be allowed to make a brief speech. That will be followed by a moderated Q&A with the public.

As for the election itself, there are a few details worth noting.

There will only be one polling station going forward. All three precincts will vote in the Trottier Middle School gym at 49 Parkerville Road. The polls will be open from 6:30 am to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 7th.

The deadline for requesting an Absentee Ballot is noon on Monday, November 6th. For more details, click here.

Hello Beth,

To your knowledge has anyone looked into streaming such events using Facebook live and/or Twitter Periscope? It’s a low-cost and simple way of reaching a wider audience.

Any thoughts on to whom we might suggest these options?

Thanks,
-Ravi
