Obituary: June Phillipo, 70

June Phillipo, 70, of Fayville, MA, died peacefully on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Westborough, MA.

Born in Marlborough, she was the daughter of the late Alice (Bertonassi) Phillipo and Elmer Phillipo, with whom she resided, in Fayville, her entire life.

June, like her mother had a strong sense of community and family. After high school she attended Kenneth Hair Design School and received her license as a beautician in June 1967. She worked as a beautician at the Magic Mirror in Southborough Center, until she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in 1978, with a diagnosis of less than one year to live, her fight began. June was not going to let a little thing like Cancer stop her from living a full life. Once she recovered from her treatments, she joined her mother at the Southborough Senior Meals and worked with her until Alice retired at the age of 80. June then took over her position as manager of the Meals on Wheels Program. Because June had a strong sense of contributing to her neighbors and community she often helped others by driving them to doctor’s appointments, the grocery store or to their homes to style their hair.

In June of 2009, she was hospitalized following a seizure and eventually admitted to Beaumont Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Westborough.

She is survived by her sister, Anne Huff and her husband Kenneth of Centerville, MA, her sister Elyse Phillipo of Fayville, MA, her brother Ronald and his wife Ellie of Marlborough, MA and her sister Bena and her husband Peter Kahn of Southborough, MA as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. She was also the sister of the ate Carl Phillipo of Westborough and Ashland, MA.
