Food Truck Wednesdays – 4 week “festival” begins May 23 (Updated)

Above: Rotary is bringing in special food trucks including area favorites for a special 4-part food festival (scroll down for photo credits**)

Starting next week, the Southborough Rotary Club is turning St. Mark’s “Front Meadow” into a destination for foodies on Wednesdays. (Though, just for four weeks.)

A 4-part “Food Truck Festival” will kick off on Wednesday, May 23rd, 3:00 – 7:00 pm. The event will repeat on Wednesdays through June 13th. The Rotary Club is doing this mainly as a feel good, community event.*

Each of the Wednesdays, the festival will feature four food trucks offering a variety of savory options, plus a dessert truck. (The dessert is ice cream, but it’s a creamery truck, not a stereotypical “ice cream truck”.)

***Updated (5/22/18 2:08 pm): MacsWraps folded and won’t be participating. Rotary sent an update with the replacement truck for May 23rd. I’m waiting to hear on the other dates.

Really great event tonight! So many people came out. Well done, Rotary Club, and perhaps we might want to do more in the future after this one runs its course.

We had a great time and kids really enjoyed getting to run around the field… Great event. Look forward to attending more.

I like the idea, and have been there twice, but lets face it, there are issues, like :
(1) Insufficient parking now.
(2) Hazards of traffic, especially when parking so close, on the steep shoulder of busy Rte 85.
(3) There will be even less parking nearby, after Main St has been reconfigured. (In fact, no parking at all, in future, along Main St, east of the signal).
(4) I expect the Library has concerns about their lot bring used .

So just a thought …Would a more appropriate spot be on the vacant corner of Main and Newton. …. Of course with permission of the owner.

Something similar to “the spot” in Ashland. In that location, patrons could also support local businesses in our “downtown”. Parking is more plentiful, and can extend further along side streets. And traffic is much less in volume, and slower speed (20 mph), compared to Rte 85.

Anyway, this is just a thought, and congratulations are due on the effort.
