Weekend at a Glance: Reservoir hike; Kids Art; Birds of Prey; and Car Wash for Special Olympics (plus Golf Tournament – Mon) (Updated)

Here is a reminder of what’s happening around town this weekend. I’m also throwing in a reminder of the Falconi Golf Tournament on Monday morning.

  • DCR’s Sudbury Reservoir History Walk (9:00 am) @ Meet at the DCR Gate at the corner of Clemmons Street and Nichols St: Join the DCR Rangers for a hike along the shores of the Sudbury Reservoir, Boston’s emergency water supply. Learn the history of the reservoir while exploring old roads, stone walls, and cellar holes of former house sites. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Car Wash for Special Olympics Basketball (9:00 am – 2:00 pm) @ DPW (next to the Transfer Station on Rte 85): Blazers Basketball Club, based in Southborough, is holding a Car Wash with help from over 30 club players. All proceeds will be donated to support the Special Olympics Basketball Program. Minimum donation is just $5. Please drop by and get your vehicle cleaned while supporting a great cause!
  • Art Workshop for Children (10:30 am – 12:00 pm) @ Southborough Library, Eaton Meeting Room: Children ages 5-9 are invited to be a part of the drop in art workshops. (Siblings allowed.) This session, the focus is cactus painting. They will be drawing a desert landscape. Registration is not required. The workshop will be run by Bigelow Center for the Arts; Lanting Huang-Truong. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.
  • Birds of Prey (2:00 – 3:30 pm) @ Southborough Library, main level: Tom Ricardi, a retired Fish and Game Warden with more than 30 years experience, is a licensed game rehabilitator and breeder. He will show a variety of live birds of prey at this presentation including a Golden Eagle, a Barred Owl, a Harris Hawk, a Peregrine Falcon and several other birds under his care.   • Falconi Family Memorial Golf Outing (8:00 am breakfast followed by 9:00 am shotgun start) @ Juniper Hill Golf Course, Northborough: 27th Annual tournament to support the Senior Center. For details, see dedicated post.
