Open discussion thread (Ask questions, share opinions) and more pumpkin pics

It’s time for another open thread

What’s on your mind this week, Southborough?

Here’s what’s on my mind! I’m always blown away by how creative some residents are with their jack o’lantern pics.

Southborough Rotary posted a slew more Pumpkin Stroll pictures after my October 12th photo gallery. Halloween week gives me a great excuse to share some highlights. (You can see their full album here.) Don’t forget to send in your best Halloween pics – or fall pics to mysouthborough@gmail.com.

Now back to your thoughts. . .

For those of you new to the blog, the open discussion thread is your place to ask questions, sound off on town issues, or share information with other readers. Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  • Ask questions about programs in town or the town itself
  • Post a note about things that you’re selling or giving away, or things that you want
  • Share notices about upcoming events (Southborough or otherwise)
  • Register your thoughts on town issues or news stories
  • Point out interesting or helpful resources

You can add comments to the thread throughout the week. Check back often to see new comments. (If you read the blog via email or RSS, you might want to check the site from time to time for new comments.)

Couldn’t help but notice the new parking lot at Morris Funeral Home.

Great to see the cars will be off the sidewalk!

Is there a limit as to how much of the property is allowed to be covered with impervious surface?

Was drainage away from the downhill neighbors required as part of the permitting process?

I was happy to see it too, although I think there may still be some parking issues to address. Cars were parked on both sides of Middle Road as I tried to drive up to Main St. this evening around 6. It might make sense to only allow parking on one side. Otherwise just one car can get through at a time. It’s a narrow road.

Transfer Station Stickers: Is it just mine, or is everyone’s car sticker fading into oblivion? It’s a little comical since the stickers are allegedly in place for Town personnel or the Southborough police to identify us and compare them to our license number.

For whatever reason, the DPW decided to use a marker this year instead of printing them. Mine is illegible after two months. But I place this in the “not my problem” bucket. At least it’s still stuck on where it belongs. :)

on a recent stroll on parkerville rd I noticed something that caught my attention, The new housing development called Cain’s crossing has started, However it is flooded with water, How can the town let houses be built on this land? I feel bad for the future owners who will live there , They better get a heavy duty sump pump if there is water there now without a flood.

Will the traffic lights on Rt 9 at White’s Corner go back to what they were before construction? There is currently almost 20 seconds of dead time when no traffic is moving before it changes to let Rt 9 traffic make a left turn.

I live on White Bagley and I have great appreciation for the new prolonged red light at the intersection of Turnpike, White Bagley and Breakneck Hill Roads. Society has a system in place; red lights, yellow lights, green lights. We all know what each colored light stands for long before we earn our driver’s license. But, somehow, we have lost respect for this system and seem to think it’s ok to run red lights. It is not ok. This particular intersection is very dangerous. Pausing for an extra few seconds to make sure that no one is running a red light will save lives. I’m good with that.
