Town launches new Covid-19 Information Center with new data on infected and “released” cases

As of this afternoon’s update, there have been no newly confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Southborough since Monday.

It seems as though there has been success in slowing the virus spread in Town. There have been no new cases since Monday. And four of the 11 patients have been “released from quarantine”. (Seven still remain quarantined at this time.)

Confirmed Cases of Covid-19That data is part of the newly launched Covid-19 Information Center on the Town’s website. The site also shares data on age groups of those infected:

  • 20-29 years old: 4
  • 50-59 years old: 4
  • 60-69 years old: 1
  • 70+: 2

The page also includes Frequently Asked Questions, important links, and links to the updates issued by the Town. Today’s Update explains:

As concerns rise over the Coronavirus (COVID-19), town officials would like to take this opportunity to provide Southborough residents, town employees, businesses and the general public with an update on some of the measures that have been taken to date in regards to COVID-19.

Information about the coronavirus is evolving, and the situation remains dynamic. The Town of Southborough continues to be in contact with state officials, emergency management teams and board of health representatives to discuss plans daily. It is also important to keep you, the resident of Southborough, informed of the latest information and updates on the Town’s COVID-19 response.

To that end, the Town has revamped the COVID-19 update page on the Town website. You can find it here: https://www.southboroughtown.com/town-administrator/covid-19-information-center . This includes updated numbers on positive test notification, links to previous Town updates, and information from Town, State and Federal organizations related to the pandemic. There is also an option on the website to sign up for email notifications when the COVID-19 page is updated with new information. You can sign up for that and other notifications here: https://www.southboroughtown.com/subscribe.

This information will be updated when new information becomes available. Please sign up for email updates or check back frequently.

With the reported cases, and the guidance from the Governor that the pandemic will peak sometime in the next 10 days, the Town reminds residents to adhere to DPH and CDC guidelines with regards to hand washing and social distancing. We need to do all we can to curb the spread of the virus.

We will continue to monitor this situation closely and provide ongoing updates on the town website.

If people would like to receive daily updates in the email inbox, use the following link to sign up:

The county and state daily updates (age groups, gender, tested, infected and fatalities) are included in the daily distributions. Perhaps the only information missing is Southborough specific.

Stay well.

For the past two weeks, we’ve received an unsolicited newspaper called The Epoch Times. It refuses to call the Corona virus anything but the CCP ( Chinese Communist Party ) Virus and preaches that it’s the “Honest Newspaper” that will let the reader see thru “the deception”.. What a waste of their money sending this rag to my house… I woulldn’t line a bird cage with it.

The Epoch Times clearly has a slanted view, although with that in mind, some of its articles were actually informative. One, in particular, dealt with the possible origins of the virus that’s sweeping the planet. Although claims have been made the virus originated from bats sold in a Chinese wet market, SARS 2 COVID 19 is not a match for the known bat virus. It is a partial match and the corona bits on its ‘head’ match those of a Pangolin virus.

The belief this virus is purely natural in origin is called into question.

This completely sets aside any discussion of the CCP, as the paper references it, and its possible involvement.

While I won’t likely be subscribing to The Epoch Times, it does present an alternative point of view. There are some truths presented in its articles, though it seems to be rabidly anti-Communist. Would a pro-Communist publication be preferable?

Every publication or “news” program or source has an agenda. Every one.

Something to think about…

The Epoch Times is on the front line reporting on freedom fighters in Hong Kong and paying a price.

Yea, Epoch Times has been of the very few media outlets bold enough to cover the Chinese Communist Party, and their heavy-handed occupation of Taiwan / one of the world’s greatest commerce hubs.

Definitely conservative , but Epoch Times is probably the most accurate coverage anyone will ever get on the Marxist, Totalitarian regime.

The CCP most certainly does not occupy Taiwan (AKA, the Republic of China by some) by any stretch of the imagination. Taiwan (AKA Fornosa by some) is governed by successors of the KMT that were pushed out of mainland China by the CCP 70 years or so ago.

Falun Gong is an anti-communist, semi-christian/semi mystical religious/political organization outlawed by the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Before these “Epoch Times” “newspapers”, you have seen them in your mailboxes, newspaper and supermarket circulars advertising performances of the Shen-Yun dance troupes. Definitely beautiful entertainment, but still propaganda for the religion and anti CCP politics.

It’s all very convoluted and complex, but anything published by Falun Gong or the CCP should be taken with bushellfulls of salt – huge propaganda agendas by both.

Thanks, Dick. I had no idea that Shen-Yun was associated with Falun Gong, but Wikipedia confirms it is. What I’d like to know is where the money is coming from.

I still don’t see Falun Gong as at all Christian. It’s really Buddhist at its roots.

Yeah, Falun Gong is not really Christian by and doctrinal sense, but about 20-30 years ago they were trying to align themselves closely with the Christian minority in China as a persecuted group to get support from American evangelical groups, and they will still lump themselves with Christianity when it servers their propaganda purposes. Enemy of my Enemy, etc.

Finally, some payoff for my ivy league degree in East Asian History! If only my father were alive to see his tuition payments being put to good use.

Neither the Chinese Government or Falun Gong are reliable sources of any type of empirical “Truth”. They both bend or make up facts according to their own agendas.

From Wikipedia:
The Epoch Times is a multi-language newspaper[2] founded in 2000 by John Tang and a group of Chinese Americans associated with the Falun Gong spiritual movement.[3] Though the newspaper is known for general interest topics with a focus on news about China and its human rights issues, it has become known for its support of U.S. President Donald Trump and favorable coverage of far-right politicians in Europe; a 2019 report showed it to be the second-largest funder of pro-Trump Facebook advertising after the Trump campaign.[4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11] The newspaper is part of the Epoch Media Group, which also operates New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD).[7] The group’s news sites and YouTube channels have spread conspiracy theories such as QAnon and anti-vaccination propaganda.[7][12][13]

Additional Wikipedia information: Falun Gong or Falun Dafa is a Chinese religious practice that combines meditation and qigong exercises with a moral philosophy centered on the tenets of truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance.

“Truthfulness” – no wonder the CCP is trying to close this down.
