Events this week: Backyard Orchard, Make Your Own Magic, Trail Cleanup, Earth Day Story Time and Bio-Blitz

Monday, April 19, 2021 – Patriot’s Day

  • Backyard Orchard Workshop (7:00 – 8:00 pm) @ zoom: This workshop is part of the Southborough Library’s “Dig In! Garden Information Series”. Blackstone Valley Veggie Gardens will hold a special zoom session on gardening topics twice monthly. Anyone 12 or older can pre-register through Southborough Recreation. This session’s topic is: Backyard Orchard – Growing tree fruit can be challenging, but with a few hints and the right techniques, you’ll have enough apples, pears, and everything else for the entire neighborhood!   • Preschool Story Time (10:30 – 11:00 am) @ Facebook Live: Children’s Librarian “Miss Kim” will hold a story time for ages 2-6 (siblings welcome). Each week will feature themed stories on Facebook Live with Ms. Kim! No registration necessary (Note: You don’t have to have a Facebook account to watch the Library’s videos, which are still viewable after the live event is over.)

  • Make Your Own Magic Tricks (11:00 am – 12:00 pm) @ zoom: A Southborough Library event for ages 7 and older. Sponsored by the Friends of the Southborough Library. Magician Debbie O’Carroll’s workshop is a delightful way to learn how to make and perform amazing new magic tricks! Pre-registration is required through Southborough Recreation.   • Earth Day Story Time (10:30 – 11:00 am) @ Southborough Library’s back lawn: Join Miss Kim for stories and a craft based on Earth Day. Please bring a blanket or chair. All participants over the age of 2 must wear masks! Registration required. For details, see dedicated post.
  • Northborough Earth Day Trail Cleanup (1:00 – 5:00 pm) @ 119 Bearfoot Rd, Northborough: For those interested in doing something civic-minded on Earth Day, the Northborough Trails Committee shared this opportunity. Volunteers can sign up for a shift helping to clear trails near the Northborough Senior Center. To register, click here.
