Towns to study regionalizing police and fire dispatch services

Here’s one I’ve been meaning to post for a while now. Earlier this year, Fire Chief John Mauro Jr. and Police Chief Jane Moran went before the Board of Selectmen to float the idea of centralizing police and fire dispatch services with neighbors Ashland and Hopkinton as a way to cut down on costs.

The Southborough Police have a new ride. Late last week, the police department took possession of a new Ford Explorer SUV. Funds for the vehicle, which cost $33K, were allocated by voters at annual town meeting last April.

It’s a good thing the Recreation Department and Friends of Southborough Recreation built us all a new ice rink, because while there’s plenty of water in Southborough, not much of it is fit for skating and other winter sports (curling, anyone?).
