A different kind of fall color

November 6, 2009 02:11:14 PM

I went to Tower Hill Botanic Garden last weekend and was surprised by how much color there was. I’m not talking about the usual yellows and reds and oranges we see this time of year, but rather bright pinks and purples. A number of flowers were still in bloom. In November. In New England. I

The foliage around town may be fading, but the magic lives on thanks to flickr. Here are some Southborough shots by flickr users dovetaildw and dude80cool that capture fall at its peak. Follow the links to see more of their photos.

Breakneck Hill cows in autumn

October 29, 2009 04:15:24 PM

Earlier this week I went to the Breakneck Hill Conservation Land to visit the cows. And what friendly cows they are! Many came right over to the fence to say hello. Lucky for me, they’re not camera shy either.

Southborough wildlife: Waterfowl edition

October 27, 2009 04:01:44 PM

I was taking shots of this swan cruising the reservoir off Parkerville Road:

When this guy popped out of the brush:

A heron, I think? He didn’t stick around long:

Meanwhile, across the road, a gaggle of geese was loitering on someone’s lawn:

Further afield: Where I’ve been this week

October 8, 2009 05:13:41 PM

I mentioned that I was traveling this week. Here’s where I was:
Southborough is home, but Seattle is a close second.
I don’t mind the gray and rainy, but I didn’t have to deal with much of that on this trip. And when Seattle is sunny, it’s one of the most beautiful places around.

So long summer, we hardly knew ya

September 22, 2009 03:55:22 PM

Today is the first day of fall, and as you make your way around town you’ll notice the autumnal color is already starting to appear. Despite the less-than-stellar summer weather, forecasters are predicting a pretty fall foliage season.
So, to celebrate, here is some color from around my yard on this the first day of my

Fall has arrived at Gulbankian’s

September 18, 2009 03:58:26 PM

I took some photos while I was there. You
