July 13, 2009 09:57:01 AM

Repairing streets, stabilizing eroded shoulders, and cleaning up debris after last week’s massive storm will keep the Southborough Department of Public Works busy for weeks Superintendent Karen Galligan told me recently.

July 9, 2009 09:23:01 AM

The library is a great place to take the kids on rainy days, but not this week.
Facilities Director Phil Rinehart told me the lower level at the library — including the children’s section and meeting rooms — was flooded with approximately 2 to 3 inches of water on Tuesday and will be closed indefinitely.

Lightning strikes police station, officer injured

July 8, 2009 04:56:58 PM

It comes as no surprise that yesterday was a busy day for emergency responders (looks like today might be too), but police and fire crews responded to one call yesterday that was a little too close to home.
At around 2:15 pm, lightning struck the police station. An officer who was in the garage at the

A return to winter

March 1, 2009 02:55:30 PM

Was it really just two days ago that the toddler and I were out in 50-degree weather enjoying the playground for the first time this year?
According to the National Weather Service, we’re in for about 11 inches of snow by Monday morning. Good thing I didn’t pack away the snowsuits just yet.

Roads were slick yesterday

February 4, 2009 06:51:24 AM

We didn’t see much in terms of quantity from yesterday’s snowfall, but it was still enough to cause problems on the roads.
The Southborough Fire Department responded to two weather-related accidents yesterday afternoon. Only minor injuries were reported. Conveniently for emergency responders, both accidents occurred within a half-mile of the Fire Station.
The car below crashed into
