We did, for about an hour from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and apparently we weren’t alone. When the power came back on, I checked the National Grid Storm Center website and 767 customers in Southborough were still without power. As of an hour later, that number was down to 195.
01/29 Update: Apparently a power
The National Weather Service says we’re in for another 5 to 8 inches on Wednesday. That’s down from the 10+ inches I was hearing yesterday. Even so, with all the snow we’ve had this year, I’m not sure where we’ll pile the new stuff tomorrow.
At least it’s a weekday storm so the town won’t have
We got plenty of it this weekend. Here are some shots of my yard. This is truly lazy-man’s photography. No venturing outside in the cold for me, I just opened the door and clicked. I didn’t even get any snow on my slippers.
The thermometer at my house reads 21 degrees. That on it’s own is chilly enough, but factor in the wind and it’s downright bitter. According to weather.com, the wind is blowing at 18 mph. That makes for a wind chill of 6 degrees.
And the forecast is for temperatures to continue to drop throughout the day.
As you’ve no doubt heard, we’re in for an arctic blast this week. Temperatures will begin to plummet on Wednesday, with wind chills potentially taking us into negative digits.
The Southborough Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) passed along the following information on how to keep yourself safe during the extreme conditions.
Turns out I wasn’t the only one to encounter icy roads in Southborough on Wednesday. Several cars found themselves off the road during the morning commute. No major injuries were reported. Here are some photos courtesy of the Southborough Fire Department.

On Saturday a Middleborough man died when he fell through the ice while skating at a local pond. Yesterday, two teens were trapped on the ice on the Assabet River in Northborough. Which means this message bears repeating: stay off the ice.
According to the Southborough Fire Department, none of the bodies of water in town
It might have been in the 50’s yesterday, but colder weather is in the forecast, and with it the potential for ice on Southborough reservoirs, rivers, and ponds.
